Panera -- this place I love. There are some less healthy options but a variety of healthy ones and things are somewhat fresh. Great variety of soups, salads and sandwiches.

Whole Foods deli and buffet.

Sooo overpriced though.

Is Panera overpriced? They are more expensive than McDonald's or KFC, that's for sure. Given that Panera uses fresh vegetables and bread and such, I don't think they're a bad value or "overpriced". While I guess you can get a "meal" for $5 at KFC or something, it's not fresh, quality, or healthy. Even if you're getting something grilled from KFC, it's not really a bird I'd want my kids to eat. I'm not saying Panera is organic/humane/fresh central, but to me, the quality of the ingredients and the fresh options are such that the price seems reasonable. There are cheaper options but they're crappier.

Re Chipotle. Like someone else mentioned, I believe their burritos come with huge calorie and fat content. Be careful if you order there!

Most Chick-Fil-A's have a play area. When my DH was deployed, I'd take my kids there so play/eat. I always had the soup and salad; kids ate chicken. Play are was the best (clean!) and it was pretty manageable with the kids (only one door, easy to watch them, etc.)

Chipotle can be healthy if you choose wisely. Get the taco rather than the burrito, and specify very little sour cream and cheese if at all.

Or go with a salad and as PP said, choose wisely. Chipotle rocks!

If you're in the city, Surfside in Glover Park is good, fairly inexpensive, and healthy.

Has anyone heard of HomeMade Pizza Co in Springvalley? a friend suggested it . . .

This is the whole idea behind the "eat this, not that" craze & book. http://eatthis.menshealth.com/restaurant_guided_search/all/all/all/fastfood

Of course, a lot of it still depends on WHAT you're ordering, not where you're ordering it. It's like ordering salad with a pound of dressing. Healthy? Well it's got vegetables in it. But the sodium and fat is there too.

Skip the rice, cheese, sour cream, guacomole, and tortilla at Chipotle and you could have a healthy meal.

It absolutely depends on what you order. I get a veggie burrito bowl - that's rice, black beans, Fajita Veggies, Corn Salsa, Tomato Salsa, lettuce, and a tiny bit of guac. I went on the website where the nutritional info is, added all the ingredients up, and it was completely reasonable wrt calories, fat, etc.

If you're getting a burrito and filling it with meat and cheese and sour cream, you're obviously going to get a different result.

The best way to reduce the calories is to get a burrito bowl instead of a burrito. That's close to 300 calories right there.

Yes, but what fun is that? I don't go in there unless I want a treat.

Noodles and Company. Fast, kid-friendly, veggie-friendly, meat eater friendly, and you can get a small Mac & Cheese for $4.50 and probably have leftovers for the next day for an almost 2 y.o.
