My preschooler is still masking at school

This sounds really dumb OP. Just start sending your child without. Others will follow and it will be the norm. It is time.

If it's optional, make a decision that makes you happy. Don't be afraid or pressured unless there is a clear policy asking you to mask.

+1 We were early adopters of not masking our child when they took the mandate away. We were not shunned by the community or the school. It was fine.

Is this real? People are still sending little kids to daycare in masks?

My kid will have less competition

I have, but I told her that she can wear it if she wants. It is always on at pick up. Her language is completely fine and so are her social skills. Preschool ends in a couple months and we will be going elsewhere.

The only reason I care at all is because it seems illogical and nonsensical. Other than that, I’m not worried about it.

Child is thoughtful and considerate.

How is wearing a mask outside thoughtful and considerate? It has zero impact on anyone what the child. They can do what they want, but let’s not pretend a preschooler masking outside somehow has superior morals to non-masking preschoolers. There’s something else going on.

OP have you asked why they are still masking outside?

We got covid outside at the pool.

If it’s optional then don’t mask if you don’t want to. No need to follow the herd.

It's ridiculous at this stage when even kids can be vax and get a bivalent booster if you care that much.

I say this as someone whose daycare only went mask optional last fall and thought we were among the latest. At this point one-third of the teachers are wearing them but no kids at all.

So what? Did anything bad happen beyond any other typical virus?

Doubtful. One of you probably got it in the bathroom.

If it was still in place next year I would pull them out and send to another. I would do that now if I could. There is no reason for this. And I have never been anti-mask.
