Question about waitlist offers and waitlist length

OP here and is that really true? Looking at historical data, it looks like the don't tend to clear waitlists for those grades and actually it's less favorable than for K or 1st. Waitlists overall are shorter but far fewer offers as well. At least until you get to 5th when I assume a lot of schools lose students, clearing more space for kids to come in from the lottery. But 2nd through 4th look less likely, not more likely, unless we get a better lottery number (which we might! I think our number this year was pretty bad based on our results).

They stop making offers when they run out of kids on the list.

Is this for PK3?

It's everywhere. Can't make an offer if theres nobody to make it too.

Some schools exhaust their lists, some don't.

OP, if this is for PK3, you have no hope at ITS. TR is a maybe. Stokes is a no. Lee, maaaaybe. At other schools you might get in even with worse numbers, for various reasons.

Did you not match anywhere? Let us help you.

1st grade, it's for 1st grade. I know ITS is an extreme long shot at this point. Hoping for better result at one of the others. We have a spot at our IB but we are there this year for K and do not want to stay.

It's not out of the question but yes, very unlikely. FYI they tend to move their list later than other schools do.

NP. PK3 here. Any chance

My results. I seem to have some decent waitlist numbers. Hopefully we move up!

Listed in preference order. I removed the obvious 3 digit waitlist numbers. I know center city is a given but I’m not sure I’d take it over what we did place with (Langdon). Any thoughts on any of these becoming available or should I just assume I’m shit out everywhere?

yes. its not so much you will necessarily get into xyz school as some schools start to have more unpredictable/unexpected waitlist movement in grades 2-4. maybe some current students move or otherwise dont reenroll. maybe they need to add another class. some oob spaces can start to become available at schools that were previously close to fully in-bound etc.

You'll probably get Burroughs eventually. I would go with your IB. Center City is nothing special enough to justify the commute.

I think you also stand a decent shot at Stokes French, if you are really interested in immersion. Stokes Spanish and YY are probably out of reach, in part because those programs both generally pull in a lot of siblings for PK3 so without a sibling preference, the list just doesn't move at all.

I also think you have an outside chance at ITDS but I wouldn't hold out hope because (1) they have gotten very in demand in recent years, and (2) they move their lists super late so you probably won't know if your chance is realistic until like late August and by then I bet you'll be in somewhere else you are happy with.

I’d you look at this: https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/aaron2446/viz/MSDCSeatsandWaitlistOfferData_draft/MSDCPublicDisplay

It is very unlikely that she will get in any of these schools for pre-K 3.
