Bill Maher proposes new holiday for atheists

I hope he was joking.

There are too many celebrations already in this country. Every historical, Hallmark and sports moment is an occasion to eat too much crap and socialize. What more does he want?????

Eating festive and delicious holiday foods and talking with family and friends is not fun for you?

Bill Maher has proposed a holiday for atheists in the name of inclusivity.

“Atheists, we’re approaching a third of the population here. I shouldn’t have to beg for this for God sakes,” Maher quipped. “It’s outrageous. There are this many of us and there is still zero representation in government.”

What would this holiday be about?

Valentine's Day

But you don't get a day off for that, and it's named after a saint.

Why not change calendar so that those who request the few religious holidays of their religion get those, then atheists get their own. Very few Christians, why shut down an entire office for it??? makes no sense in 2023 in the U.S.

Good point, but sounds complicated from a management point of view.

Pus lots of people who, for example, don't celebrate Christmas religiously, still like having the the day and off celebrating in a secular way.

Same with New years -- It's a christian holiday - the feast of the Circumcism.
