Travel soccer

It's club dependent. For early ES, ours has two practices a week, nothing over the summer and winter optional. There hasn't been an out of town tournament since covid.

That said, we have stuck with Rec Sports. They allow DC, now 10, time to play sports he likes while doing other activities. There is less of a commitment and time demand for the sport.

We did it back then because all the friends from the neighborhood were also trying out so we could carpool. Are kids all loved video games and liked soccer so it seemed like an easy option to keep them socially together and off the screens without a constant argument. That’s another common reason.

Travel soccer is a lot less of a time commitment than baseball and lacrosse in elementary school. In lower elementary all our games were within 30 mins away and tournaments were close as well (club lacrosse I’m driving past Baltimore and into Delaware). It’s only 2 practices a week unlike baseball 4-5 times a week.
