Yes, and? Do it once, they'll teach him how to properly care for his curls and what products to use. Then buy larger sizes of the products at Ultra or Amazon.

$100 for a teen is flat out ridiculous. That is 4x more than DH spend and even my salon is only $60 for me (cut and dry).

Your husband pays $25 for a hair cut in the DMV?

Barber shop: $25
+2. Many many barbershops are around $25.

I wish I had learned how to style my hair when I was younger. That said, my tween/teen boys are fine with somewhat messy unstyled curly hair, as long as they get regular cuts and I can't imagine them using product.

My tween has curls like DH and I. He gets a curly cut and uses product. All kids are different!

But do they do a good job on curly hair?

And do you send your teen daughter to the barbershop?

This is PP. I have no idea what your question is implying.

Curly hair doesn't always need to be cut as often as precise cuts. Most of my family have curly hair and it is much more forgiving than straight hair.

This is OP. I appreciate all of these responses! I will look into all suggested, and Oasis is probably most convenient (we are in Bethesda).

To answer a couple of questions — DC hates his hair and says it all the time (we have no idea where the hair came from!) although he has not specifically requested a special haircut (he goes to a barber now). My hope is that with a proper cut and some light grooming tips, he will feel better about himself and his hair. Also, I’d love if the cut/style tips could coax his hair more to wavy than frizzy/bushy, but not sure if that is realistic which is why it is worth it to me to spend money on a good cut for him even just once.

Georgie’s Barbar in Takoma Park is good with curls. My DS has been going there. He likes Elissa and John.
