Fine Arts Requirement

They have had so much health ed in MS, they don't need more. They should allow opt out for PT for kids in outside year round sports.


The HS health curriculum is different from MS due to the different issues HS students face.

If outside sports get out of PE, what about other subjects? DC is in an outside orchestra. Should they be able to get out of the fine arts credit?


You only need one fine arts credit, so yes, it would be nice especially if the school doesn't offer the same quality. We are also in outside orchestra.

The advantage of these is that they give kids an hour of relief in the school day. A class period with no homework. Etc. So I'd favor a requirement for one of these types of courses each academic year in the name of mental health and well roundedness, which would essentially INCREASE the requirement. So four courses required across these two departments-- with requirements that they be spread one per year.
