Have you hired anyone based on checkbook reviews. How did it go?

We used Checkbook to find a granite countertop company. They had great reviews. Unfortunately, I didn't know that the reviewers weren't verified like they are at Angie's. The company was a disaster.

Long story short, they did a horrible job - the overhang ranged from flush with the cabinets to extending 2 inches beyond, they seamed one side in the middle of the dishwasher rather than over a cabinet edge, the sides next to the walls were jagged and <drum roll> the island sink cut out was misaligned so the opening was between 2 cabinets rather than where the sink was. The cabinets were installed when they came to measure.

Their solution was to have the cabinets cut. We had to sue them in Small Claims Court to get a refund. Washington Checkbook was no help. OTOH when I had a paver company not comply with their warranty, Angie's was super helpful in getting it resolved.

That’s weird. Never had that issue. Reviewers have to sign in to their account to leave review. Hard to make many fake reviews
