| I'm a grandparent that just upgraded from my 2007 Honda Civic to a 2023 Honda Civic. I am not too old and my old Honda was not unsafe. What a crazy question! |
|
So your belief is that an older car is unsafe? Why?
Our cars are 13 and 12 years old, and we will drive them until they die. Our kids and their friends are safe driving with us because: we drive safely/defensively and don't use our phones while driving |
| I drove my kids around in my 2006 (!) Lexus SUV until I sold it last summer. As long as the vehicle is maintained and in good condition, you’re fine. |
| Omg. We have a 2012 with over 100k miles with no plans whatsoever to replace it. You’re crazy! |
At this point, it is not the car, it is the driver you should be more worried about. |

An unreliable car is usually not unsafe. An unreliable car is inconvenient.
The main thing that contributes to cars being characterized as unreliable is they won't start. |
