Biden nominees

This was uncomfortable to watch:

See what Senator Kennedy is doing? He's testing regardless of political affiliation.

He's doing his job. That's rare today.

My two cents:

His alma mater (AZ Law) and former law firm should be embarrassed.

Given his resume, he should have been equipped to answer a question like that.

It similarly isn’t fair to question the ABA rating of judicial nominees. They most certainly are not asking 101 level questions of seasoned lawyers.

When Sen. Kennedy says, “Tell me how …” it’s gut check time for anyone in the nominee seat. His combination of folksiness and next level intelligence is really something.

Did you skip over the Trump Administration where hundreds of unqualified hacks were promoted to be judges?

Yes, this one isn't good either, but it isn't limited to Biden, whose nominees, for the most part, have been fine.

Yet Kennedy still voted for this guy.

Small business owners, contract workers, freelancers and franchisees have kicked off a nationwide push to derail President Biden's nominee to head the Labor Department, beginning with a six-figure ad campaign in states where vulnerable Democratic senators are up for re-election in 2024.

The "Stand Against Su" is a coalition launched on Monday as the Senate prepares to consider Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su’s potential appointment to formally lead the department. Her critics cite her support for tightening employment regulations in California when she ran the state’s main labor agency, which they say makes her an enemy of both companies and employees.

"Simply put, Julie Su is anti-worker," the coalition said in a letter being circulated in an effort to drum up opposition to the nomination. "Her promotion to Secretary of Labor would cripple small business and eliminate job opportunities for millions of hard-working Americans."

The campaign will include billboard ads in Arizona, Maine, Montana and West Virginia, where moderates up for re-election next year have the potential to derail Su’s nomination in the Senate before she even gets a floor vote.

What is this? Why can't Biden find good people?

Or is this just overblown and his confirmation rate is similar relative to other Presidents?

Some of these nominees have looked really bad.

ACB couldn’t name the 5 rights protected by 1A (then again, religion is the only one she cares about). I asked my middle school kid at dinner that night and he nailed it.

Now that’s embarrassing.

Kennedy's questioning would have disqualified ACB because she also had none of that kind of experience. But here we are.
Either show me video of Kennedy similarly grilling ACB or top saying he's "doing his job regardless of political affiliation."

Says the party that inflicted Kavanaugh and ACB on the country.

So obstruction is what you want.

OP here.

I would like to see qualified nominees. Seems Biden is scraping the barrel with some of his nominees lately.

I bet you said the same about Trump.

^ or stop saying he's "doing his job regardless of political affiliation."

But, this one takes the cake. And, to think - he has been a judge for 4 years and cannot answer this basic question?

It obviously a trick question designed to make a nominee look bad.

His qualifications are he’s a Black man who can summon the patience to put up with a presumably racist white man asking him trick questions.
