The last I checked, they can't take health until they are a rising 10th grader. Some students who take Algebra I in 8th grade take Geometry in the summer so they can be more accelerated in math in HS. But I've heard that some of those kids had difficulty with the geometry on the SAT. It also doesn't make sense to accelerate just for the sake of accelerating the child.

What classes do magnet kids take outside the district and where does this info come from?

They might take Geometry over the summer. Or a class to prep for Alg II. Maybe a study skills type class if they have ADHD or some other LD so they are prepared for APs.

Overall I wouldn’t stress it prior to the move. Focus on the area and how she can adjusted over the summer(ie go to the pool or find an activity). Enroll in the HS as soon as you can she can choose classes and get to know about other programs(which she’ll also be able to do once there). And then have her join a fall activity.

You can take health as a rising 9th grader in summer school.
