| The republicans primary win - Putin. |
OP here. This is a concern about far right Republicans & Trump, but not for current Republican US Senators. Any thoughts ? |
Consider this headline from CNN on February 21st: "Biden administration rolls out new asylum restrictions mirroring Trump-era policy." Sounds interesting - only, upon closer inspection (or any kind of inspection!), the rule doesn't seem designed to restrict legitimate or fraudulent asylum claims at all. The proposed rule contains a nugget of common sense: migrants who pass through a country where they could have sought asylum before reaching the United States, will not be released into the U.S. That would be a sound policy that would discourage "asylum shopping" and fraud. But NumbersUSA did something reporters on Twitter apparently did not: we actually read the proposed rule. The exceptions to the rule include…well, just about anyone you can think of, including: • Anyone who schedules an appointment with Customs and Border Protection via the CBP One app. • Anyone who doesn't have a phone or otherwise couldn't use the app. |

Border Patrol requested agents to volunteer at the northern border after a jaw-dropping 846% surge in illegal aliens (mostly Mexican migrants) crossing into the U.S. from Canada.
The memo originated in the Swanton Sector, which patrols the U.S.-Canadian Border in Vermont and portions of New York and New Hampshire. In the message, the Swanton Sector requested a “quick turnaround” of BP agents from the already historically overwhelmed southern border to travel to and volunteer at the northern border for at least a month. Swanton’s Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia wrote in the memo. Help is needed to control the “strain caused by the surge” of “primarily Mexican migrants with no legal documents.” “Due to the increased numbers, stations are task saturated with processing large groups, which has contributed” to more migrants being able to slip into the country. |

FWIW A couple of years ago, CBS' 60 Minutes did a segment on a homeowner in extreme upstate New York whose yard is partly in the US and partly in Canada.
If i owned this small property, I would be tempted to construct a tunnel which crosses the boundary in the backyard. |
On their journey, these men, women, and children face miles of boiling desert heat with little to no water. The cartels’ cash, raked in by endangering and exploiting illegal immigrants, is nothing less than blood money. After the sun set over the Rio Grande Valley, I encountered a group of women and children who had made their way across the border. One child, clearly exhausted, was sound asleep on their mother’s shoulder. For ranchers and law enforcement in Texas, finding dead migrants and children abandoned by the cartels is a frequent occurrence. These people aren’t left behind by accident. The cartel is in complete control, and once the migrants have done the traffickers’ bidding, they are left to fend for themselves. While law enforcement officers are working tirelessly to secure our southern border, the Biden administration has done everything in their power to make that task more difficult. The White House spent billions canceling the border wall project, covered up the fallout by blocking press access, denied adequate funding for the Department of Homeland Security, and took away National Guard resources even as the number of migrant encounters surpassed historic levels. The Biden administration is not neglecting the border — they are intentionally abandoning the very concept of border security. White House officials refuse to witness the consequences of their radical policies firsthand, but that does not void their responsibility to American citizens. The solutions are straightforward: build the wall, stop waging war against President Trump’s successful Remain in Mexico policy, end catch and release, and embrace Title 42. |
