Really? I know many people paying full tuition for their kids to attend Colby, Bates, Tufts. Do you realy think the outcomes from those colleges is that different thanfrom Dickinson?
Congrats to all of those whose students were accepted, and bonus for any merit aid!

Yes, of course there's a difference between those schools, which are some of the best LACs, and Dickinson. https://www.reachhighscholars.org/salary_potential.html

We liked the campus, the location, and thought they were good for science (her interest). I believe they also have strong offices for study abroad, career services and disability services.

The one downside we perceived was perhaps a bit of a cliquey social scene. We had the impression that there might not be traditions or events that bring the whole community together. That was an impression though and it was definitely high in her list.

Congratulations everyone!

Thanks for posting--my dd has high-functioning autism and the cliquey social scene is something we're concerned about. She needs to go someplace where the kids are friendly and welcoming. We haven't visited Dickinson yet, so we'll see how she feels about it.

Try to arrange an overnight visit. My daugher was able to do that, and it allowed her to ask the questions that were hard to bring up on a scripted Admissions tour.

Useless information. Depends on major. Also, depends on so many other self selecting factors. No indication whatsoever that attendance at the school leads to the salary. What a preposterous basis on which to rank a school. Makes USNWR look good. And that’s hard to do.

We have visited and were quite impressed with Dickinson. I have no idea if it’s cliquey but I did get the impression it wasn’t particularly quirky.

My DC chose Dickinson (which I would not describe as "Dickensian" in the least!) at full pay over schools that offered DC merit money (although not $30k - if it had been that we might have pushed DC to consider those schools more seriously). DC had a very good experience there. There are sororities and fraternities there but only a few and I don't think it drove much of the social life. My DC was in one, but had plenty of friends from other activities. The sports teams are probably a tighter group, as is the case at most schools.

No. They are all in the same group. No distinction. Same grouping, lower tier LACs

I’d group the first four together and the last three together. Not as to difficulty of admission but for being similar types of schools. I think they are all similar for reputation and results.

Did anyone ask which school you (oh internet stranger) thinks is better?

PP, have you checked out St. Joe’s in Philly? They have some very interesting programs that might be great for your son.

Yes. Bucknell has a much better student experience.

Lehigh is not even a LAC. It is a national university ranked about #50. Used to be more highly ranked.
