DC schools - should we go private or move?

Strongly consider private school. We know too many families that moved for the Potomac/Bethesda public schools. They paid a ton on selling and buying, plus the disruption to family life. The majority ultimately ended up in private. We are currently private now and will stay put.

We really like the walkability of city life. We've thought about the closer-in and metro accessible spots in VA, like Court house and Ballston. But the schools don't seem to get very high ratings there either. Thoughts on that?

I know plenty of people at Garrison. The preschool and Kindergarten is lovely. It's recently renovated so that's nice. I know the test scores are bad, but the school is changing fast. I think if you genuinely love your current area, give Garrison a shot. You can always move later. Why not avail yourself of free preschool while you shop for a home?
