Why does DCPS rank 49th in the country, behind poor states like Kentucky, Tennessee and WV?

When a child can put his name on an assignment and get a 63 with every question unanswered…

Np. Can you please expand on this?

It was fairly shocked to see just how much time and resources at our majority minority school are devoted to “anti racism” curriculum. I mean, 90% of the kids are well below grade level. Shouldn’t every minute of every day be spent on math/reading? It’s bizarre.

What a lie, it's devoted to iReady, PARCC crap,GOLD/CC, DCPS initiatives, etc. The 'curriculum' is in canvas and you have to print it lol

Social promotion and fear that students will drop out even sooner if they are held back. Loose attendance policy with no accountability on parents.

But this is a not true, is it? Where is your data?

“With an anti-racist framing, District students would be more aware of the role of policy and history in shaping current racial and economic inequities. The revised standards should also focus on the tenets of critical race theory (CRT)when describing power structures and systems.”

It’s literally in the curriculum. So is CRT by the way.

DCPS is a joke. Lafayette Elem had a huge BLM banner hanging just as you walked in the building. Crazy is ok so long as it is on your side of the political aisle.

The cost isn't in there and I have no problem with kids knowing our country has a history of racism and continues to be racist.

You are angry about this but don't care that central office is getting an extra 13 million dollars and does not specifically say why, especially when many do not do their job.
What about the fact that hundreds of positions are still open?
The fact that many school budgets were cut?

And for clarification, I did not mean you lied that they spent money on it. I mean it is not true that is is an unseemly cost, it is chump change. Definitely not 13 million.

Your racism is showing.

But they should definitely have something for Asians as well, given the things that have happened and continue.

Teacher salaries, construction, maintenance are all cheaper in WV than DC.

Lucky for us, we have that data. Look at NAEP TUDA data for apples to apples comparisons.

As somebody who loves data, I had not seen this website/tool before, thanks for sharing!

Don’t worry DC the only place that’s decent is VA for public schools. (Hence why MD felt the need to over fund Blueprint for Maryland)

Rewarding failure seems to be the given in MD and DC

Who is being rewarded?
