Giving inhome daycare a raise

I would be more than willing to pay if she raised her rates, but instead give her and her assistant generous cash gifts for the holidays and birthdays.

PP again - actually it's been just over a year - DS started at 7 months not 2 months, ha. But no word of price increases - our provider is a breath of fresh air and truly seems to love caring for the kids. Grateful, as it's hard work!

Ours just opened her family daycare and raised the rates $25 more after 6 months. I guess she knows how much it costs a business now. We do pay for holidays and vacation, which is fine!
If she needs the money then it's fine! Our child is happy there 😊

Remember to gift money to the assistants too! I used to be one in a center and my aunts Family daycare. They work hard just like the Provider/Teacher. The perfect time to show appreciation is Christmas mostly and birthdays

She does not charge for sick days or holidays and gives each family a vacation week per year to not pay, but I pay her 52 weeks per year for 5 days a week regardless. We also give her two weeks pay every Christmas but it still doesn't feel like enough! We are paying $300 week for one child right now.

Adding she has never once ever taken a day off or closed. Not once in 4 years including the pandemic and somehow *knock on wood* covid has never run through her house.

…. That she’s told you.

But honestly, she sounds wonderful.

If your daycare doesn’t raise her own rates, but you feel they deserve more than give them generous bonuses, random gift cards, and other major token of appreciation.

Do you mean that she might take days off without saying anything? Or that she wouldn't have disclosed covid?

Disclosed COVID or implemented the don’t test don’t tell mentality.
