Should our DC keep news that they’re changing schools to themselves?

Most 1st graders can't hold water so if you've already told them, everybody will.know by lunch time.

My rising K and 4th grader let everyone know after their shadow day.

1st graders aren’t going to care.

It's first grade, no one cares.

Most little kids cannot keep any secrets. However, we still would tell DC not to talk about it outside the house.

I think my 1st grader had already told her peers. I don’t think it’s changed anything. We’re still doing play dates outside school with her current school friends. I told the school when contracts were due, so they know too.

This. If the child already knows, then that’s fine, don’t burden them with keeping a secret.

How about middle and high schoolers leaving public? I have been thinking about this. When go to athletic events, other parents are asking what school my kid goes to and what high school they will be going into? I don’t want them to be jealous or to think I am trying to brag.

You realize you cannot control the actions of other people, right?

Why would it even matter? The kid is like 6. Nobody cares.

I am not saying anything and neither is my kid. You then have to deal with the why are you leaving stuff that always sounds awkward. Better just move on and people will figure it out next year.
