It looks like the reading is an SOL and the math is Math Inventory 3.1, which doesn't track with the other math inventories? End of year score for 8th grade is supposed to be 1001Q Q and above, and we are above that, but not in the 1700s like some people here (and it's not end of year yet). Is there a key for this somewhere?

Googling shows this result for Math Inventory 3.1, which seems to provide a better explanation for my 8th grader's result of 1105Q than these other charts: https://sbcobbstor.blob.core.windows.net/media/WWWCobb/fgg/4441/Math%20Inventory%203.1%20%20Overview%20for%20Parents.pdf Still not sure why we got this test for math instead of the one for reading that breaks out the different proficiencies by topic.

Do these scores work so that you can see how far ahead your kid is? My 2nd grader scored 334Q, so his teacher mentioned she expects him to be at 3rd grader level by the end of the year since 3rd grade proficient is at 380 (which does seem to basically correspond to this map). Is the test done on an iPad so it changes based on their answers? Meaning the more the get right the harder and harder questions it gives them? (Guess I should have asked that question).

So if my 5th grader is at 848Q does that mean he is proficient for 6th grade math MOY scores but then also has a basic knowledge of 8th grade math?

These are such good questions and I have NO IDEA. And look, here is the totally unhelpful page that APS provides to understand these math 3.1 scores -- https://www.hmhco.com/programs/math-inventory#news-events WUT???

At our conference the teacher said that our second grader can’t measure any more than one grade ahead. The test isn’t going to give 4th grade questions to 2nd graders, even though some of them could do them.

Interesting thanks! SO it could show proficient for 6th grade but won't give any info beyond that. Thank you.

Yes, the test is adaptive. The more they get correct, the harder the questions get.
