Faculty Members: What should group project dissenters do?

Prof here. He should try to talk to the group and make his objections clear and suggest an alternate path (complaining is one thing, but complaining and adding a solution is better).

This is also what office hours are for. He can stop by to concisely state that he's facing some personal difficulties in his group, and wants to let the professor know he will play ball but will be doing so against his own principles: would the prof advise he do so "in character" or as an exercise, or would they proactive provide an alternate assignment or switch his group? Won't know until he asks.

I would probably offer to switch his group. And if it's truly offensive I'd intervene.

In any case, letting the prof know AFTER the project is over, even with a note submitted with the deliverable, is too late and we can never be sure it isn't actually a reflection of wanting a different grade. Being proactive ensures his intentions are about what he says they are about. Unfortunately, we have to weed out grade grubbers.
