| Didn't the City Council for DC just pass a bill lowering the sentences for many crimes lol? |
| Were the victims black or white? |
| The media will be more likely to report it as a serious concern depending on the race of the victims. You see how crime is only “alarming” when it happens in Northwest or Capitol Hill. Meanwhile, Hendley Elementary School had a shooting right outside the school a few weeks ago and no one said a peep. |
That’s unacceptable about Hendley too: https://www.wusa9.com/amp/article/news/local/dc/second-shooting-in-2-weeks-puts-hendley-elementary-school-on-lockdown/65-8fb8eb51-57b8-498d-9853-09706af10dc2 Looks like there is a corner store across the street that should get shut down. |

The robbery story was carried by NBC4, WUSA-9 and others. The shooting outside of Hendley was also covered by the media.
Shootings inside of schools get national coverage. I haven't seen much coverage on robberies outside of schools in other cities where I've lived. The DC local coverage is more than what's happening elsewhere. Not saying that is good enough, it just is what it is. Regardless of the national coverage, we need more outrage and solutions in DC to stop our students (and everybody else) from being victimized when trying to do normal everyday things like going to school or work or the grocery store or wherever. |
