Summer college programs for high schoolers

He is doing an "Intro to Engineering" camp for a week to see if anything sparks his interest. It's at a school he's interested in attending but that is probably a reach for him. I'm hoping it will at least help him with some direction.

I would have loved this when I was a high schooler. My school was not great on advice, and I didn't realize until well after I started college that engineering was something that interested me -- I wasted years doing other things.

My DC did the Syracuse precollege program. It was great for trying out a couple different majors they were interested in. It also was great in being able to experience a dining hall, a roommate, and what they liked/disliked in a college campus. The only admissions boost is a fee waiver when they apply. Think of it as summer camp, it was great for the experience but won't help a 2.7 student get in.
