Taking something lower than Geometry in 9th grade at APS?

Can you still graduate with an honors degree if you don't take Algebra 2 until junior year in high school? What counts for a 4th math class besides Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry? Does AP Stats count?

Why is everyone in a big hurry to get Algebra 2 in before end of sophomore year?

Does you math level also have impact on what sciences you can take? Is there some other reason? It might be really obvious so please spell it out for me. Thank you!

It's because if you take Algebra 2 in sophomore year you can get to calculus by senior year. For lots of colleges, taking calculus is a significant mark of rigor (whether or not it should be is debatable). And, if you are uncertain of your path in college, having exposure to calculus can be helpful if you need it for your major. Business majors, for example often require calculus.
