My kid says this, too. |
True, too deep and it slows them down the kids that have to swim it. Most courses will avoid the well if big enough. |
PWSC is far but that is a great pool to swim at. |
| Jeff Rouse pool in Stafford is a fast pool. |
| I think Fairland is slow. |
| Kid claims Colgan and Long Bridge are 2 fastest. Of course this same kid also strangely HATES the ceiling fans at Freedom Center and refuses to swim any backstroke there, so who knows what's driving the love for Colgan and Long Bridge. |

It has to do with the pools ability to remove waves/wake from the swimmer, so a combination of water temperature, deep water, a strong gutter system, and bulkheads for the water to move at the turn/start end.
If you've ever watched summer league 15-18 boys 50 free in a 6 lane rectangle, you'll see the wake of the swimmers bounce off the wall and right back to the swimmers, this should not occur in a 'fast' pool. |
| UMD is definitely a fast pool. |
|
Fairland is slow. Mason is slow. |
| I thought the fast pools were the colder ones? |
That helps make a pool faster, but not too cold. |
We all know deeper is better
|
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! |
My kids feel the same. |
| St James is a pretty fast pool. |
