Ahhh thx |
Who exactly is “authorized” to be in school grounds under the law? Really not following your logic here. |
This. Presumably there was something worrying about it, but when the police arrived, there's not probable cause to arrest. Either there was not, in fact, anything illegal, or they need to gather more information. And the cops aren't going to tell some random caller why they did or didn't arrest someone just because you want to know. |
Issues happen at schools ALL THE TIME. It would be exhausting to hear about all of them. No student was in danger, including the OPs. Op and parents like him/her are nosy nellies all about the drama. |
I'm guessing the community hasn't been told lots of things in Newport News. Doesn't make it right. Parents have a right to know what's going on when police are called. Better school systems shate information. |

Comparing these two scenarios is not even remotely reasonable. |
Does someone want to share what was shared with the community? |
I wasn't comparing them. I'm stating that it is important for the community to know what's going on when police are called. |
I listened the scanner traffic (somebody posted the link on the Wakefield lockdown thread). It seems a man tried to engage with kids on the playground, he left and walked over to Libber Run CC, the school called the police to check on him. Police checked on the welfare of the man (at Lubber Run) and the situation was cleared. |
You don't have a right to know anything that takes place in a PUBLIC school unless it involves YOUR CHILD. Otherwise, it's none of your business. Chillax. |
+1 |
I truly hate to upset you, but you are incorrect. Other parents and community members have the right to know if there's been an event that involved the police. |
The parents of the child at Richneck Elementary likely thought the same. It doesn't work that way. |
The police were not on site at the school, they were on site at the park. Do you think the community should be alerted every time a police officers dispatch somewhere? Do you know how much time of your day that would take for you to read all the reports? Get real. I would encourage these parents to spend a good amount of time volunteering at a school to see what really goes on. |
