AoPS Prealgebra

My child did this, and she excelled in math in high school and college. She said it was mostly because she learned this AoPS way of approaching math vs. how she was taught in school.

OP here. Good for your daughter! Mine won't go through the videos and book herself at her own pace. Mine is not a self-starter. She thrives when interacting with teachers whom she likes and respects.

Is she a you-starter? If not, I would go with AoPS Virtual Academy Honors Math 6. Note that it also comes with 1-3 hours of homework each week. The cheaper, text-based online classes usually cover the basics and work through some challenging problems. I think you should email them, asking about the different time per week requirements for the online prealgebra courses vs Honors math 6 via AoPS Academy

Note that AoPS is accredited (https://directory.acswasc.org/new/directory-searchdetail.php), which may make it easier to work out an agreement with the school to let her take AoPS in place of her regular math program

If you do choose a tutor, try to find one with previous math competition experience

Thanks for this advice. Super helpful. I found an AOPS instructor who also does tutoring.
