Is a 13 and a size 1 the same thing? |
They shouldn’t be but if you get a size 13 in one brand it may be the same as a size 1 in another brand. |
You need to just wait and take your kid w you to try things on when they are actually about to start wearing them. You can’t buy ahead unless your kid is the rare unicorn kid whose feet actually grow at a normal rate and their feet are not wide, narrow, or otherwise outside the “norm” |
I can help.
Boys and girls sizes are the same. Boys tend to be cut a little wider but it varies by brand. "Crib shoes" are NOT the same as little kids. "Crib shoes" are 0, 1 2 3 and 4. They are cut a little big. An average 3-4 month old is a size 1. "Baby" shoes are size 4-6 INFANT. An average 12 month old is about a size 5 and a wide but again there is NO uniformity in kids shoes, it's not like a mens 40 inch waist. "Little kid" is 6.5-10. Think 2-3 year olds. "Big Kids"- this is where it gets hard- is 10.5 and up. It goes like this 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12, 12.5, 13, 13.5 THEN it jump to size 1 and goes 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 4, 4.5, 5, 5,5.5, 6, 6..5 and then 7. A boys 7 is about the same size as a mens 7 , maybe a little smaller but close and then kids sizes stop. This is where you need your shoe PHD. You can convert kids and womens sizes for older girls. A kids 3.5 is a ladies 5. A kids 4 is a ladies 5.5. A kids 4.5 is a ladies 6 and so on. Take the kids size starting at a 3 , add 1.5 and you have your conversion for womens shoes. A "kids" 7 is a ladies 8.5. This is great to know for things like snow boots and uggs. I hope that helps! |
Also, if your 4 year old is a size 10 she is just a little shy of average/on the petite side. For fashion boots next year get the 11. For snow boots get a 12 and let her wear 2 pairs of socks. Snow boots are warmer when they are roomy. |
Yeah but at some stores/brands they call it “toddler 10.5, 11, 12, 13” which is confusing since typically it’s 4-6 year olds wearing those sizes, not toddlers! |
They are not consistent. I also find this so frustrating! |
Yes, some label them T for toddler, or C or K for kids, when they also overlap with toddler sizing. Generally if it has a letter next to the size (that's not W, for wide) than it's probably little kid (toddler through early elementary) sizing. |
