I don't usually love mac and cheese but I have made this and I thought it was excellent. It took a bit of time though, and I would definitely suggest cutting it in half.

I tried to make it as well and I think the cheese is a huge factor. The gruyere I bought really came out too strong. As for the orange color - I just added some paprika to tint it.

But wait, I think the gruyere one and the orange one are different. The orange one tastes more like cheese whiz and the gruyere one is the creamy one. I was talking about the gruyere one, because that is what we used to get for the kids meal but now they give us the orange.

Nutmeg? It's a traditional ingredient in creamy, gruyere dishes.
