Those with a 504 plan aren't eligible. Only those with an IEP that specifies it. |
Np here. What’s the difference between the two plans? |
Some MCPS schools are offering an alternative class similar to resource for kids with 504s. |
Which schools? Ours said 504 are just for modifications that can be made in class and for testing, so they can’t provide r r to it functioning support outside If those settings. |
The class is called Related Studies. |
The classroom teacher can provide specific accommodations. They just can't be in the Resource class. |
Would any 504 plan work so my DD can be in the class? Help with organization sounds great! |
Does your school offer the class? Ours does not - only offers a separate class for kids with IEPs. |
| I thought that all middle schools offered the related studies classes. They are for students who don't have an IEP |
+1 At our school, Resource is for IEPs and Related Studies is for 504s. These classes look good on paper. But students give up an elective to take them, and the organizational help isn't consistent, or even of any sort of quality. They are worth it for some, but buyer beware. |
Our school says they only offer resource, not related studies. Are all schools supposed to offer related studies? |
