We hated the hotel bathroom over we had over holiday travels. There was a TV mounted right where you would expect towel hooks to be. We couldn't believe it ![]() |
The lack of counter space is always ridiculous. |
No, it's how they save on their water bill. Those soft rains add up. Ditto for the counter space - minimal space, much less cleaning, costs them less money. |
The lighting is inexcusable, I agree OP.
I also agree with the rain shower head mounted 13 feet high. So you want to save on water? Fine, I'll leave the water on for 11 minutes rinsing out my thick long hair. Stupid. |
I agree with you OP. |
OP here. OMG yes the rain shower heads. I don’t want the water to fall equally on the back of my head and the front of my face! What’s wrong with angled shower heads? |
My pet peeve is no or only one nightstand by the bed. Plus no plugs. I bring my own power strip, but it’s annoying to have to leave my phone on the floor or across the room.
We have been on a road trip, and discovered the Hilton brand called Tru. They’re pretty minimalistic and the rooms are small, but it’s the first hotel I’ve stayed in where it actually feels like someone who had actually stayed in a hotel gave some thought to the design. I looked it up on line and that is the case. They’re not luxurious, but perfect for one night or two as you pass through a place. https://www.hilton.com/en/corporate/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/16-0803_Tru_DevelopmentGuide_v1.1.pdf |
Especially since they want you to re-use your towels. I’m happy to use the same towel several days in a row, but if there’s no way to hang it so that it actually dries, I’m requesting fresh ones. |
Yes! I can't tell you how many hotel bathrooms have no hooks near the sink to hang face towels. I usually wind up hanging it off a knob or drawer, and then ask for more fresh ones bc that doesn't work. Also, BOTH sides of the bed need to have a bedside table/shelf WITH OUTLETS. And I would love to see built-in nightlights in the bathroom. I hate having to turn on blazing lights when I have to pee in the middle of the night. |
I agree with a lot of the above, and want to add that I really dislike hotel bathrooms that have the toilet and tub in one room with the sink in a separate space that open to the rest of the room. A lot of Hyatts have this set up and I hate it.
First of all, when you use the toilet, you then need to come out of the room to wash your hands, which I just don’t like, especially during the night. Secondly, maybe this is silly of me, but I like a little privacy to put on my make up. I don’t need my husband and kids as an audience. |
Weird - I've never had any of these problems in a hotel bathroom -- where the heck are you people staying? Must be way more high end than me. |
It does seem like older high end hotels are the ones with no towel hooks, etc. When those hotels were built, they assumed they would be changing the towels daily. |
+1 Hilton FTW! |
-1 Disagree. Wash your hands in the tub, NP. Your DH and DC don't know what you look like, by NOW?? |
This drives me crazy. |
