National Honor Society- what did your DC do that makes it helpful for applications?

DD actually dropped her membership at the beginning of her senior year because she thought that it’s not helpful unless you are an officer and even hurts one’s chances at a top college. She said if you put it on the college application, it means that you have nothing more meaningful to show.

+1. DS didn't even list it as an activity. Had many more meaningful ones

If you’re applying to top schools it would be odd if you have space in your 10 activities for this.

What does the president do? Or officers for that matter.
I'm looking at the website and the activities look so vague.

They lost president on applications

I have never heard any AO mention NHS and I've sat through a lot of those information sessions.

Great if your kid is in it, but I don't think you can expect any impact on admissions.

Mine did. Had good results -- 3 T15 admissions.

My kid tutored high school kids in math for NHS his sophomore and junior years. He won an award for this tutoring at his school's annual NHS induction/graduation stole ceremony, and added this award to his brag sheet/awards list.
