Plan My DC Staycation!

I recently stayed at the ritz Carlton at Tyson’s and loved it. Are you a shopper?

You could head to Alexandria, stay at the Lorien or Alexandrian, go to Fountains Day Spa and do dinner at Vermillion or somewhere by the river. Shop or just wander around Old Town, get coffee, browse in a bookstore?

So lucky! If I had a staycation gift, I would probably skip the museums and spend a whole day at Balian Springs in Alexandra https://baliansprings.com/experiences/

The National Geographic Museum has a King Tut exhibit I’ve been wanting to see.

Yours Truly is a nice hotel, affordable and has a chill vibe to it. If you want peaceful, walk around the Freer Gallery. It's so beautiful and serene. I love The Phillips Collection for the same reason.

I've done a staycation at Yours Truly, they actually have a special right now in partnership with a spa nearby. It's also across from Rasika West for dinner.

Checked in, hit the National Gallery, had lunch at Teaism, got a lovely massage at Etalon Day Spa, went back to the Monaco for their free happy hour, and then had dinner in the restaurant (although there are many great restaurants within two blocks-- it was just really cold when I was there and I didn't want to leave the hotel).

Next morning I ate at the hotel (if you happen to be a fed you can get the government rate and it included breakfast), then spent some time at the Portrait Gallery/American Art. There are also two theaters nearby if you want to catch a movie.

^^ You can apply the govt rate even if this was for leisure/non-business use???

Fleecing of America and unethical.

This doesn't cost taxpayers anything. It's a discount offered by the hotel and it is up to the hotel whether they want to offer it to government workers on leisure travel. Most don't but some do. It's unethical if you lie to the hotel about whether you're traveling for work, but as long as you're honest there's nothing unethical about it.

And to be clear on the Monaco's policy: https://www.monaco-dc.com/washington-dc-hotel-deals/government-per-diem/

The government rate often gets you the lowest quality of room that they have. Just an FYI.

I'm the one that stayed there on the gov. rate and my room was perfectly fine. King bed, nice bathtub, bathrobe, etc. Not sure what else I would have needed.
