Outdoors part-time preschool, a good or bad idea?

I was taken by surprise during the tour that they were primarily outdoors, and I didn't ask what I now realize were the right questions as I was trying to take it all in while freezing, since I wasn't dressed appropriately.

I think the majority of time spent outdoors is for gross motor development, so playing on the playground, i suppose. They do have tents for each age group, but it wasn't clear what they were doing in those tents. The setup didn't look very organized.

I had not even thought about mosquitoes. My kid has very sensitive skin and mosquito bite marks take a couple of weeks to heal.

As it stands, I don't think this will be a good fit for us.

Yeah, that’s less of a preschool than a daycare.

I live near a daycare/preschool that has a lot of outdoor time and I mostly just see kids playing with dirt. When it rains they jump in muddy puddles; it’s kind of gross. I guess this is fun but I don’t really see the extra value.

Center is just like a Family Child care home (daycare). Kids are learning all the time. Most providers are preschool teachers.
The cons of centers is the children don't get more individual attention. In family child care homes children gets more individual attention.

My son's preschool was like this and became more so during Covid. He loved it! He already liked spending time outdoors though, so that might have helped. the kids loved being outdoors too and rarely complained. They will spend k-12 mostly indoors, so take advantage now.
