I am enjoying “angry prius” and “Japanese robot” as car descriptors. We have a heritage land cruiser and it looks like an apocalypsemobile with a crew cut when the cargo basket is on the roof.

When I heard this announcement I was hoping it would be a limited edition, retro version of the Crown.
The world needs fewer angry Priuses and more mirrors mounted on fenders (and good visibility and headroom and a proper grill)

The new one is another forgettable, squished crossover thing that could wear the badge of any carmaker

This is cool, I didn’t know this car existed. There are three other Toyota crown models being released- estate, sedan, sport. Sadly none of them look like the photo you posted.

More cars are making use of turbochargers to produce adequate horsepower in smaller engines. Turbochargers have intercoolers which require lots of airflow to allow them to function properly. Hence the larger grills. Larger grill = more airflow to the intercooler.

The 2023 Toyota Prius is the current generation. It’s been completely redesigned. No one in their right mind would call it one of the ugliest cars on the market today.
