| I’ve always bought the jumbo cage free brown eggs from Wegmans. $ 5.29 a dozen yesterday, so not drastically different from what I remember paying before. |
what is your best chicken's name? I paid 7.49 for a box of pasture eggs at whole foods today :/ |
| I agree eggs are more expensive these days, Washington Post just did an article on the avian flu yesterday. But honestly, they’re still cheap for an animal protein. How much are you guys paying for chicken breasts or ground beef? I’m vegetarian so I honestly don’t know. |
I would like to know your chicken’s name too
|
New poster here. I have an amusing story for you all. My MIL has a neighbor who has 4 chickens. Their names are Blanche, Dorothy, Sophia and Rose. The tallest one is Dorothy and the smallest one is Sophia.

| Just paid $4.79 for organic brown at WF. is that much higher than normal? |
It’s clickbait. There are plenty of eggs to be had for reasonable prices in this area. |
It's the price of organic eggs. WF non organic is about a dollar cheaper. Giant's house brand is about the same price |
| I just got home from Costco in Fairfax. White XL Cage Free Eggs for the two dozen cartons was $6.49 or $3.25 / dozen. Brown Organic XL Eggs were $7.59 or $3.80 a dozen. Limit two cartons for each so you can walk out with 8 dozen essentially. 4 dozen white and 4 dozen brown. |

Blame Republicans
Eggland's best company CEO profits are up 300% he said "why not people will pay it" Yeah this is nothing more than price gouging. Thanks repukes. |
I agree with this. We go through a lot of eggs but don't spend much on meat, lots of meatless dishes. Plus eggs are useful in so many ways -- baking, as a meal on their own, as a protein supplement to a basic dish like ramen, salad, or a rice bowl. But we tend to buy local eggs from a farm we know has human practices, so we've always paid a premium. But I still think a $6 dozen eggs is a better deal than a pound of hamburger for $8 or $10 that will go bad quickly and will likely only yield one meal. |

Please provide a link for the quote from Eggland’s best.

Are you in the DMV? Where are the local farms? |
How much do they cost to feed? My friends who raise hens say that they aren't saving much money due to the cost of feed. |
| I love eggs. That doesn't sound like a lot to me. |
