VA Bill to have pregnant women register to use the HOV lanes. Not at all problematic.

Women should also get 9 months fetus support from the sperm donor while pregnant.

I’m guessing that there will be other things too: No alcohol, of course; diet and medications could be monitored to ensure that the passenger gets priority; basically anything and everything that could potentially be less than optimal for a fetus will be up for legislation.

It’s a long weekend. Maybe I’ll spend tomorrow re-reading the handmaid’s tale. It’s amazing what rights some people will willingly give up just for a slightly faster commute.

Embryo/fetus support. The first 10 weeks (i.e., 6 weeks after the first missed period), it's an embryo.

According to some Repubs, it's fully grown person in there. It could live independently of its mother but likes free living rent-free and not having to pay for food. Hm. Sounds like a fetus might be a socialist.

Sounds great!

Now, this means any and all abortions are to be considered murder?

VA already has laws about substance abuse during pregnancy. While it is not a criminal offense, medical practitioners are mandatory reporters for suspected substance abuse and the state can take the baby away at birth.

I am too, and I don't. Then again, I view my baby as a person. I'm all for making life easier for pregnant moms!

Will you claim a dependent and take a child tax credit on your 2022 income taxes?

She darn well should be able to, if the legislature insists on legally recognizing a developing fetus as a full person. She should also be able to take a life insurance policy out, etc.

And that's the part I don't think they're thinking about.

That would mean as soon as you conceive, you should be able to apply for a SSN for the fetus. You should be able to take out a life insurance policy as well. Tax breaks should start immediately. The fetus should count for increased WIC/EBT. The fetus should qualify for Medicaid because they have no income.

Then let the greedy health insurance companies get in the game. They'll make it so the mother's insurance doesn't cover the fetus and a separate policy must be started to cover the fetus.

Let's go a step further... if we establish a fetus is a person at conception in the legal-sphere... that means the fetus has legal rights. If something happened during the pregnancy, say a medical mistake, both the mother and then the fetus would have the ability to sue.

If it wasn't for bad ideas and intentions, the GOP would have none at all.

Birthdays would also have to match the date of conception.
