Bleeding nose at least once a week

Turned out to be a deviated septum in our case. Every nose-blow re-opened it.

73 is warm and dry. We keep ours at 66 at night 68 during the day. Put a tiny blob of Vaseline inside the nose to keep it moist (sorry).

Mouth breathing dries everything out.

Look for humidifier cleaners that drop into the water tank. I never get mold if I change that out frequently. I use a generic version of these: Protec Humidifier Cleaning Ball (PC-1) – Fight Humidifier Mold and Bacteria with Protec Humidifier Cleaning Ball https://a.co/d/8A9q81Q.

I have two Honeywell cool-mist evaporative humidifiers that aren’t exactly pretty, and the technology is very simple, but they work well and are fairly low-maintenance.

Yep, plus many people keep their homes hot and dry (due to the heater) at night in the wintertime.

During the day, kids are usually outside some and in rooms that are less hot and dry.

Yes, though you want to be careful about using Afrin unless the bleeding really won't stop because it can cause rebound congestion and even more swelling and bleeding if you use it too much.

Regular saline spray is much better. This quelled DS's near-daily nosebleeds.

Saline will moisturize and help prevent nosebleeds, Afrin will constrict the blood vessels and stop a nosebleed that isn’t stopping on its own. PP is correct that it should be used sparingly only if pressure and regular measures aren’t controlling it.

My DC used to do nose picking at bedtime at age 3-4 so it happened very often that he woke up with blood on his hands, face, pajama, pillow, blanket, bedding sheet and even the walls, and it’s a lot of blood. We told him to stop pick his nose, trim his nail, had him eat more vegetables (he hated vegetables but started to eat it), and used nasal spray; we used humidifier for sometime then stopped using it because of mold, and we placed a cup of water instead. It kind of helped and stopped his nose bleeding.

I think doterra came out with a new humidifier. If do, might be easier to clean than a big clunky one from Walmart. And nasal saline - the liquid kind squirting ton in the nose every evening. When my nose does bleed, I put frankencense on a tissue and it stops it.

Wow, I don't think I usually see the essential oils crowd on DCUM!

PS Go away!

I did not know these existed. Thank you! Off to Google.
