Assuming this is a serious question, NO! I've known kids that were caught sharing answers for tests get away with no consequences.

+1. This post is gross. |
| Based on my kid's applications last year, colleges only ask about suspensions and expulsions. My kid did have a suspension freshman year of HS so had to report it and write a brief explanation of what happened and what they learned. It did not prevent their ED admission to a T40 school. |
Why would she do that? |
Am I the only one who sees the connection between these responses and the other threads about how MCPS is going down the toilet /teachers have low morale because students lack discipline? |
+1 Do you all believe everything that comes out of your kid's mouth at first pass? Because I find that kids tend to emphasize/deemphasize as needed to support the most positive outcome for themselves. And that's not even including the kids who will flat out lie to CYA. |
NP. When I was in high school I got suspended for going to my car to grab a textbook. Well, that’s the version I told my mother. I really left school grounds to go out to lunch with friends and got caught coming back in. Most teens will lie to try to avoid getting in trouble! |
Exactly. So some posters think that students should walk out of class as they please? I guess rules don't apply to their children. |
| OP here - that is what happened because that is what the teacher emailed me. She did not even bother talking with my kid she just emailed me and said she has a detention. I am not excusing any behavior or questioning consequences I just want to know if this is "reportable" when the discipline question is so vaguely worded on some applications and no it does not go on transcript. |
How could she talk with your kid if your kid left class before it ended? |
She never did speak with my daughter. I just got an email after school ended telling me the teachers version of the story and the resulting punishment. She still has yet to speak directly with my daughter about it. |
Okay OP, I have a Sr. too. I would instruct my Sr. to go and talk to their teacher but as for it being reportable, I think the best person to ask would be the high school college counselor. |
I asked above but you didn't answer. Why would she leave class early to look at posters in the hall? |
Sorry - b/c it was the first class after winter break and the teacher gave them a study hall bc she needed to enter grades. She was bored out of her mind. |
| mine got a detention for running into a teacher (literally, he was running in the hallway and collided with a teacher). wrote an essay about how he learned from the experience. he was accepted into umich ross DA, nyu stern, uva, and duke. waitlisted at wharton and yale. imo as long as it isn't a serious offense, they won't care about it too much |
