Will FCPS be open next week?

There's no snow in the forecast next week and no reason to think there would be an issue with school.

+1. Take off the tin foil hat, OP.

Are there any rumblings that this will happen again this year? There seemed to be quite a few emails about snow day procedure the week before Winter Break, but maybe I’m reading too much into that. Boston and LA are considering reinstating a mask mandate in schools.

I guess if it happens it will only be four days since Monday is already a scheduled day off. There is rain in the forecast for 1/3-1/6, so it would be possible in theory.

It’s also possible in theory that the aliens that abducted your brain will return it in time for school to begin next week.

Translation: Most people have reverted to the selfish a--holes they are.

I am praying for a miracle.

There actually WAS snow last year. School was closed for longer than it needed to be, but I definitely remember running out the night before to find snow boots for my daughter.

Seriously-it did snow last year

As for last year, there was a good amount of snow last year. The need to close schools for the first part of the week was legit. They probably could have opened on Thursday and Friday but there were probably areas that were still borderline enough to justify keeping the schools closed. More likely then not, the Thursday and Friday closures were more COVID related then weather related but there was enough snow and ice to be able to pass them off as weather related.

I'm hoping for a good storm in end of Jan early February

CDC issued a press release on the XBB1.5 variant and said that may be more transmissible than other variants, but we don’t know if it causes more severe disease. We’re closely watching this variant to see how well our vaccines & treatments are working against it.

Didn't you hear? School's closed until spring break due to potential bad weather and triple-demic of illnesses.

I repeat, it’s almost 2023. Most are not testing for covid and do not care about a new variant.

Might be a good excuse to use for a few days off towards the end of winter or beginning of spring. I have leave to burn.
