MoCo vs Nova?

VA is currently going through 2000s McMansion boom all over again, but once the Tyson’s job market peaks, so will the hype and value for the neighborhoods, similar to what happened to Potomac after the 90s.

Seriously? FCPS has many strong high schools, including TJ.

Virginia schools are already tainted by Youngkin.

It is heading to school choice. Meaning Youngkin and Betsey Devos model of schools will ruin the schools. This is not magnet schools this is the religious right schooling and it is privatizing schools like in states like Alabama, MO, MI.

Not to mention VA Amanda Chase is going to be spewing more crap and creating a horrific environment for women. Women will lose jobs and education in VA that is a no-brainer it is coming. Anyone not believing this is not paying attention and is stupid.

Do what you want but buying in VA at this point in time is plain old dumb.

Like I said don't beleive me but in 2024. you will be sorry.

You could learn to spell. And Devos has nothing to do with Arlington schools.

FCPS has one strong high school: TJ

And it is still the big dog in the area. No one can compete with MCPS in the area.

MoCo in general and MCPS in particular peaked decades ago. I’d go with one of the strong pyramids in FCPS, of which there are more and at different price points than can be said of MCPS: for example, Langley, McLean, Oakton, Chantilly, Madison, Woodson, Marshall, Lake Braddock, Robinson, or West Springfield.

+1. We tried it, got the t-shirt and left. Don’t do it Op. All hype. Google Curriculum 2.0 or Blueprint for Maryland. Even the State’s leaders realize the schools suck…

Publics are trash everywhere

Covid exposed the rot.

Laughable. Maryland ranks below Florida on NAEP. MCPS is the largest district in Maryland. The state ranks MCPS 5th in the state. Q.E.D. This is just an overpaid MCPS employee hoping the con lasts until they get their pension. Don’t blame them.

I went to MCPS decades ago. My kids are there today. They are getting a much better education than I ever got at W's. This is because many programs are available to kids interested in learning if you want to take advantage of them. Yes, the world has changed. The demographics of Montgomery County are different than 30 years ago; however, you can get as good or even better education today if you care about that.

What's laughable are morons who confuse bulk averages with opportunity.

dp.. laughable. The NAEP for MD numbers were from Baltimore, not MCPS. This is an MCPS forum, and OP asked about MCPS, not Baltimore.

Not an MCPS employee. I've got my fair share of MCPS gripe, but the NAEP score for MD is not one of them since it didn't include MCPS.

the only really good thing about MCPS IMO is that they have some really good programs at the HS level, from magnet STEM to IB, aviation to automotive training, etc..

Agree my kids were in magnets the whole way through. They got an amazing education, and it's really available to anyone who is interested.

I'm trying to convince others that society is in freefall, and using actual like this fact isn't helping me with this false narrative! The goal is to ruin the reputation of public education so we can open charters and have vouchers that way, we can stop paying to educate the middle class. Taxes should only be for police and military, you know to defend wealth and all.
