Way scaled down Christmas Eve dinner this year and liked it!

Turns out no one goes to church on Christmas Day anymore so easy to find seats and very low stress. We’re having steak for dinner and roasted vegetables—feels like a splurge but takes 10 minutes. Did Leftovers for lunch.

Same. Big, time consuming meal on Christmas Eve, and lasagna (or yesterdays leftovers if someone wants to pull them out) for Christmas evening. We all agreed it would be our new tradition.

We were all getting over a cold on Christmas Eve and had simple homemade chicken soup with homemade bread. It was perfect.

Scaling down holiday craziness is NEVER a mistake. I always do a mix of easy and homemade foods. Charcuterie boards are actually a lot of work for me because I find it weirdly hard to make them “pretty” like Pinterest quality.

This year I didn’t wrap a single gift- all gift bags. It was a revelation. I’m never going back.

We went out for Italian on Christmas Eve and we will never cook again. It was perfect and so easy!

We went at 1 PM and had a big meal. Most had leftovers to bring home as well. Only my sons got hungry at around 7 pm and ate leftovers. The rest of us were good to go until Christmas morning.

We made steamed jumbo shrimp. So easy and delicious. This will be our new tradition going forward. Staying in, just our nuclear family, watching a movie together. Then the big family affair the next day.
