It was probably a clear case. You don’t need multiple people for clear case. They save the committee stuff for tough cases. |
They claim to have 2 readers for every app, not just borderline calls. |
They can't even staff up enough to offer enough classes for all students to take a full time load so I would not be surprised if they are also cutting corners in admissions. I can't understand why anyone would pay OOS tuition too go there https://www.independent.com/2021/09/15/ucsb-course-shortage-at-crisis-level-dean-says/ |
Hiring readers is different from hiring faculty for start. That said, there may be a pile (or may have been pre get blind) where there was an almost bright line admit for certain stats and confirmed with a single reader so only a deny would get a second read. |
| I always wondered what would happen if a 4.0/1500 kid just wrote a one sentence essay to state U or something. |
| Well, that one kid got into Stanford after writing “Black Lives Matter” a hundred times. |
Depends on whether there was enough in the rest of the application to get them over the admit line. |
Unbelievably ridiculous. Stanford keeps embarrassing itself. NP |
