We lost Barnes and Noble, Amazon Books (which I didn't like anyway), so now I don't know whether we have anything local - it's incredibly sad. I've never lived in a place that didn't have bookshops before.

Your best bet is Politics & Prose on Connecticut Ave.

I agree that your best bet is Politics and Prose.
There’s also the Barnes and Nobles in Rockville, or the Second Story Books Warehouse in Rockville.

Child’s Play — in Chevy Chase DC has a nice selection of children’s books.

On Rockville Pike? It closed as well.

There is a newer one on Rockville Pike - in Congressional Plaza, where Ulta and The Container Store are.

I don’t think there are that many anywhere near where I live. Scrawl in Reston is the closest. It’s a cute store. Small, and the employees are friendly. They do virtual and live events.

Not sure where you live, but there’s a new shop in Herndon called A Thousand Stories. I really hope people support them. They’re doing books and gifts right now.

Thanks, they look cool. Great location for folks in Herndon. I love bookshop proliferation. Feels healing.

I’d love if one opened in the Chantilly area. Maybe Metrotech/Sully or Greenbriar. Or near the Expo center.

I'm in West Springfield. We have a Barnes and Noble by the mall, and to my knowledge, that is it. I guess the one in Old Town isn't too far, but I rarely go to that neighborhood. I do wish we had one locally to support.

Local to you or local to me?

Twin Cities:
Moon Palace Books - a great selection of kids books, native books and non fiction books with a social justice bent, great cookbooks, excellent kids section.
Next Chapter Books - just a superlative selection.

There are so many great bookstores up here and a bunch of middling ones, too, but I love them all.

I looove used bookstores and my faves (I'm in Rockville) are Second Story, Friends of the Library, and not sure this counts, but the book section of Unique Thrift on Viers Mill

+1
Babies to teens - I get the novels for my high schooler's English class from this store. Very knowledgeable staff who make helpful recommendations. Gift wrapping too.

A shout-out to Loyalty Book in DTSS. I order books through bookshop.org and pick them up there.

I also love the main Politics & Prose location. Not a fan of the one near Union Market. We have been members of P&P for years.

I wish there was one in Falls Church City--I can definitely see it taking off, offer book clubs, readings...it would be awesome!

It’s not quite the same since the original owners sold to one of their employees, but they are still my people. And the fact that it’s my kids’ favorite place on earth, when I grew up shopping there, is just magical. So many memories, and so much money down the drain, with no regrets! I’m

I love Browseabout! One of the top reasons that I make our family go to Rehoboth every year.
