Cuddle duds for you |
The safe space heaters turn off automatically after an hour. |
It isn't good for her OP.
You can turn off some of the vents in unused rooms, but she really needs to turn it up to 68 at this stage of life. If she is cold and she really can't afford to, it's time to sell and get a small apartment. |
Having her thermostats at 65 for a few months isn't making her thin, frail or anemic. Sure get her a space heater but realize there are other issues, like aging, causing those issues. |
This is idiotic. They’re not that safe, they burn energy, and OP’s parents have a functioning heater, they just don’t want to turn it up. 65 is fine |
It is tiresome when people declare 65 and lower temps "fine" because it is fine for THEM and their bodies. 65 would be too cold for me and it is too cold for your mom since she has said she can't afford to raise the heat not that the temp is fine for her. She is cold and can't afford to heat her house, so yes it is a problem. |
Who was the actress that last year lost her parents and they basically froze to death. They also were resistance to help from her and did not use much technology.
Get a safe space heater, line the surface with stone tiles to minimize risk of fire. Else, a few good easy to fill room humidifiers in the house can make the house comfortable and warm. How about also gifting her some hot water bottles to keep in her bed? I agree that you can winterize the house also. |
A friend's of mine's dad burned down his house with "safe" spaceheaters. You don't die with 65 degrees. Those parents refused heat at all. |
