What unit is your 1st grader on in Eureka Math?

This. Until 4th grade, when kids can take compacted math, the curriculum is painfully slow.

My kid found compacted painfully slow. Feels it was a waste of 2 years.

Our Title 1 DCPS is on module 3, lesson 6, and my first grader also gets enrichment which is second grade module 5, lesson 6. I heard MCPS was slow, but that seems really slow. No wonder they’re bored!

In my experience in both a title I and a WOTP DCPS, and a well-off MCPS ES, DCPS is better for ES (though we were only there in early elementary).

At our DCC ES which is a focus school (high-FARMS), my second grader is also on module 5 lesson 4 or 5 so very similar.

PP’s DCPS is doing first and second grade math in first grade though.

At MCPS they're just doing basic regrouping for subtraction and skip counting in prep for multiplication in the enriched group. In first grade, it was more basic; nevertheless, both my kids had 99%+ on their MAP-M so not too worried about it. Regrouping multi-digit subtraction and skip-counting seems appropriate for a 7 year old.

Module 2, lesson 23

Thanks all...it is frustrating that she is doing multiplication and division at home and at school is still adding numbers less than 10.

Just supplement. That’s the only way she is going to feel challenge. Try RSM or AoPS.

At our school some 1st graders are also doing 2nd grade Eureka but we're one of the only ES with accelerated math.

The key is that some kids are doing 2nd grade math, not all. OP have you spoken with your child’s teacher and school about the concern? If not I would suggest you start there. You can definitely enrich at home. Go for depth vs speed and moving into new topics. This includes doing word problems. Having a thorough understanding of foundational math skills and being able to think through problems with them is key to harder HS and college math. Many a student has found themselves struggling and in need of a tutor when they hit Algebra, Trig, PreCal, Physics, etc. because they lack the ability to take basic foundational skills and be able to manipulate/apply to new problems or scenarios.
