Yes, you have parroted what I just said. We agree. |
Based on the other thread where a 6th grader 'violently attacked a teacher'... might that have a play in this guy's departure? |
No big loss. I won't miss his word-salad emails about the simplest things. He was incredibly incompetent and embarrassingly rude at times. Ms. Vinson will much better, even if she's only the interim. |
No, since it didn't occur as posted, probably not. |
My daughter goes to GW and is in 8th. I asked her how she felt about Mazur leaving, and she said she didn't care. Her response was, "I had no interaction with him, it's not like he is one of my teachers who actually cares about me." I guess maybe that is to be expected in a school that large, but I was still a bit taken aback that she felt so distant from him. |
GW has 1,600 students. He is a school administrator with a ton of day-to-day responsibilities. Realistically, I don’t really expect the principal to interact with my student much under those circumstances. |
My daughter would have said the same about Dr. Mazur. Different story at ACHS with Mr. Balas. She's had much more interaction with him. |
You do know that $33 million is a small amount for even a small school district? When the mold issue and subsequent study happened at MVCS just replacing the furnace was $9 million—and that was precovid. |
$2000 X 1000 employees = $2,000,000. |
Is this actually true? Or does anyone know if ACPS has contracted with Hutchings’ company? Why isn’t it a conflict for Hutchings to make money off of his previous relationship with ACPS? |
I'm no fan of Hutchings but I don't think it would be a conflict for him to have consulting contract with ACPS. On paper he left under good terms. Maybe that's why his severance package was so low. |
GW has 1371 students this year. Still big, just not that big. |
1,530 according to the school’s website. Is that inaccurate? Where can one find current enrollment numbers? https://gw.acps.k12.va.us/about-achs |
That page lists two different numbers, 1530 in the text, 1392 in the table. |
FWIW ACPS employees pay quite a bit less for health insurance than APS |
