| House Divided (by Ben Ames Williams) |
| Pachinko |
| Flight of the Heron. It's about Scotland in 1745 and Diana Gabaldon acknowledges it as an inspiration for her Outlander series. The hero is even a red-headed Scot called Jamie. My Scottish grandmother gave it to me when I was 13 or 14. |

All the Light We Cannot See
The Nightingale The Four Winds Daisy Jones and the Six A Discovery of Witches Geraldine Brooks’ novels Edward Rutherford’s novels |
| The Winds of War and it's sequel War and Remembrance by Herman Wouk. Navy family during WWII. Epic. Two of my favorite books ever, I read them years ago and more recently listened to the audio versions. Probably available at the library but also worth buying because I found each time I reread or listened I got a lot more out of it, so much to digest! |
| In the very good time travel historical fiction category are Connie Willis books (doomsday book, to say nothing of the dog etc). Also Time After Time. |
| Daughter of War by Dinah Jeffries. Pretty much anything by Dinah Jeffries. |
+1 |
+1 Love Connie Willis |
I was surprised by how much I loved these as well! |
| The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead |
| Love, love, love “The Golum and the Ginni”. This year really enjoyed “The Rose Code”. They’re YA but I love revisiting Elizabeth George Spear (The Witch of Blackbird Pond and Calico Captive) |
I absolutely loved Golum and the Ginni. Didn’t enjoy Rose Code. I’ll add The Marriage Portrait. |
| I have the Rose Code sitting on my kindle and I said “oh I’ll go read it” and then I said “hmm maybe not” 😂 |
| I just read Shrines of Gaiety and enjoyed it. Also, if you are into historical mysteries, the Maisie Dobbs series is really good. |
