I guess the last three are more traditional hymns as opposed to Gospel music, but I have strong memories of my grandmother singing these to me when I was a child. She had such a beautiful voice, even when she was well into her 80s.

I grew up in the Methodist church and miss the days of traditional hymns in Sunday services. So many churches appear to have gone the route of full contemporary music and praise bands. Give me a little church choir with hymnals any day!

I’m not the OP, but I grew up in the United Methodist Church and miss hearing traditional songs from the Hymnal. A Mighty Fortress is Our God, To God Be the Glory, How Great Thou Art, Great Is Thy Faithfulness, etc.

I'm the Methodist PP and yes! My hometown church choir director was also my piano teacher, and I spent lots of time learning hymns out of the Unite Methodist Hymnal. I guess that's why I feel such an affinity for that music, along with the memories of my grandmother.
We live in NoVA now, and I have struggled to find a church with the traditional feel of the music I grew up with, combined with an active children's program/ministry. It just doesn't exist. I don't mind the bands and contemporary music to some extent, but I just wish there was a more traditional musical flavor on occasion.
