| Do they use silicone bakeware or silpat type baking sheets by any chance? That can transfer the soapy taste to food, and I think it's more pronounced with food that's sat for a while. |
YES! I make cookies every year for Christmas at my sisters house, and one year she brought out a bunch of silpat mats and I used them. Soapy cookies! |
| I realize this is an older post. But I wanted to add that this "soap taste" is apparently an ongoing issue, and is most likely caused by covid. It's annoying, but leftovers, in particularly baked goods, all taste like soup or plastic. You are not alone. If you've had covid, which most of us have, then it very well could be a lingering side effect. |

It is the dishwasher detergent + all kinds of smells and odors stick to the pots, pans, storage containers etc. Especially the silicone lids etc.

| I think this is a mental association issue. You had something from them once that tasted soapy once and now your head jsut goes there. See if you give the leftovers to sooem who doesn’t have this association and whether they notice it. |
