+1 And I completely agree about not adding anything weird. It should be a good old fashioned mac and cheese. Creamy and cheesy. That is all.

We go out of town on Thanksgiving each year, as do many of our friends. So we host a Friendsgiving beforehand.

This is part of the problem and why creeps like you and many of your friends are running thanksgiving!!! If you are headed out of town you do your one holiday you are headed to!! That’s it! You don’t extend it by weeks like a greedy freaking privileged piece of puke. So tired of this!!! It’s ONE day!! No more!

Why are you triggered by what others choose to do?

Sounds like someone who has never been invited to a Friendsgiving. We do one every year on that Friday, but no turkey or other traditional Thanksgiving dishes.

Does anyone have a good recipe for a sweet potato dish?

We’re going to Mexico for thanksgiving, not to Nana in Florida. Your anger is disproportionate to the issue- our having a Friendsgiving doesn’t affect you negatively (or at all).

Nik Sharma's recipe here: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1019605-sweet-potato-bebinca

It's absolutely delicious. Not strictly traditional though if that is what you are looking for.
