+1 We have credit card, checking, savings, and mortgage with them.

This was us too. We had our mortgage with them, and several other accounts as well. Without notice or warning or ever being late on our part, and definitely without our permission, they started pulling money from an account to pay the mortgage, a couple weeks early (we always push the funds, do not allow anyone to pull funds from our accounts, ever).

To make it worse, even though we had always done everything online, we were both forced to go into their offices and sign papers to make it stop. Total PITA for 2 working professionals. We pulled every account and refinanced the mortgage. This was over 10 years ago, but we will never go back.

Ask me about PenFed and I will sing their praises!

We applied to USAA and Navy fed for our original mortgage. Navy Fed after two weeks didn't do anything to move it along. We ended up using USAA. BUT, USAA sold our mortgage after telling us they don't sell mortgages and it was a pain. When we refinanced, we went to Pen Fed. We had issues with them losing the paperwork but otherwise they've been really good and allow recasts and early payoffs and have saved us a lot of money.

Long story short is I tried to do a custodial account for a loved one via a court order. They accused me of trying to steal the money (under $1500) and said they don't do them. They were so nasty I asked to remove all my money and originally they said yes, but when they say it was a good amount they refused. So, I went to a different branch and apparently the original branch alerted them and tried to block it. I called corporate and they got me a check immediately for all the accounts including my loved one and I moved it all over to our main back, who had no issue with the custodial account. Its ok they don't do custodial accounts but how they treated me with a court order that easily could be verified online was terrible over a very small amount of money.

Pen Fed and USAA are much more stable larger companies with better customer service. But, for banking for regular accounts, they don't offer anything special. The only reason to use Pen Fed, Navy Fed, or USAA is they generally have slightly better mortgage and refinancing rates with fewer fees.

I've been with another bank for 25+ years and never had an issue.
